Tailored Options to Fulfil Different Aspirations

In our High School in Federação, Salvador, students have two choices. For those aiming to apply to universities overseas, experience a more international curriculum with more classes taught in English, and obtain a globally recognized certification, the recommended path is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP), continuing the IB Continuum pathway of the previous years.

Alternatively, for students aspiring to study at Brazilian universities, and hence requiring preparation for National Vestibular examinations and major Brazilian exams to enter universities in Brazil, the recommended path is the Brazilian Curriculum.

Regardless of which curriculum our High School students choose, both options cover all subjects mandated by the Brazilian Common Core Curriculum standards. Proficiency in English is also guaranteed for students following the National Curriculum, as they take the IB English B Higher Level course.

Personalized Guidance

Personalized Guidance

Students engage in meaningful discussions with our teachers and tutors about their dreams, goals, talents, and personal challenges from 9th Grade, just before this new academic stage begins. They undergo interviews and counseling sessions to learn about the advantages of both the National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Curriculum before making a final decision on their chosen path in the first trimester of 10th Grade.

The ENEM Exams

Brazilian Curriculum Pathway

In the Brazilian Curriculum, students follow the key areas of knowledge defined by the BNCC: Languages, Humanities, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, English, and Writing. English is taken at the IB Higher Level, ensuring full proficiency and a globally recognized certification.

International Pathway - Dual Preparation

International Pathway - Dual Preparation

The Pre-IB trimester helps students understand and adapt to the demands of this final IB program, which officially begins in the second trimester of Grade 10.

The IB Diploma Program at our High School in Salvador offers a rigorous international curriculum recognized both nationally and globally, spanning 18 months. In the IB pathway, students choose 6 subjects: 3 at Higher Level and 3 at Standard Level, with Portuguese Higher Level pre-selected for all. Additionally, students complete the 3 elements of the IB core: the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course, the Extended Essay (a 4,000-word essay in English), and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service), where they undertake different projects relating to arts, sports or social responsibility under the supervision of a mentor teacher.

Our IB students also take mandatory BNCC (Common National Curriculum Framework) subjects to ensure compliance with the Brazilian Ministry of Education requirements. Physics, Chemistry, and Writing lessons are delivered in Portuguese, alongside IB subjects taught in English.

Ultimately, these students complete High School with a dual qualification—the IBDP and the Brazilian Diploma—opening doors to prestigious universities in Brazil and worldwide.

All High School students, regardless of their chosen curriculum (IB or Brazilian pathway), take the IB English program at the High-Level option, earning an international certificate that attests to their excellent level of English upon graduation.
